Edinburgh LeRobot Hackathon

Event Summary

The Edinburgh node of the first-ever global LeRobot hackathon took place at the University of Edinburgh's Informatics Forum, joining 50+ cities worldwide in the AI robotics revolution.

LeRobot is Hugging Face's open-source robotics framework that makes training real-world robots as easy as training language models. Over 30 hours, participants worked in teams to build, train, and demonstrate creative robotic behaviors using state-of-the-art deep learning and reinforcement learning techniques.

My Role

As a co-organizer of the Edinburgh LeRobot Hackathon, I worked alongside Antreas Antoniou (Principal AI Research Scientist) and Garry Ellard (Research Software Engineer) to bring this groundbreaking event to life. My role included hands-on demonstration of robotics technologies, expert mentorship for participants, and comprehensive event coordination.

The hackathon showcased the University of Edinburgh's commitment to advancing AI and robotics education, providing students and researchers with hands-on experience with the latest technologies in the field. As both an organizer and demonstrator, I was able to directly contribute to the learning experience while helping to create an environment where innovation could flourish.
